Bikes swiped in series of thefts

POLICE are hoping to trace the owners of mountain bikes swiped by thieves in a spree at the weekend.

Officers believe four bikes were stolen on Sunday night during raids in Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley.

Three bikes have been recovered and police are hoping to trace the fourth.

The first is a blue and silver Claud Butler mountain bike, which is believed to have been stolen from Ovaltine Court, Kings Langley.

The second is a grey Velocity mountain bike, also understood to have been snatched from Ovaltine Court.

The third is a black Hard Rock mountain bike, which officer suspect was taken from flats on Cotterells in Hemel Hempstead.

The fourth unrecovered bike was a specialised Cross Trail mountain bike and is believed to have been stolen from Stephenson Wharf in Apsley Lock.

PC Jamie Brimmer said: “Contact me at Hemel Hempstead police station via the non-emergency number 101.”

Two 17-year-old men from Watford have been arrested and released on police bail.
