Bird skins thief sentenced

THE American student who broke into the Natural History Museum at Tring and stole 299 priceless birds skins has been given a 12 month prison sentence suspended for two years.

At St Albans Crown Court on Friday (April 8), Edwin Rist, 22, now living in London, was also placed under supervision for 12 months.

He broke into the Akeman Street museum on June 24, 2009 and pleaded guilty to the crime and money laundering offences last November.
