Yesterday’s sunny weather attracted huge crowds to the annual Ashridge Garden Party fundraiser for Northchurch-based The Hospice of St Francis.
Guests were treated to performances by the Jolly Jazzers and the D’ukes of Ashridge, and there was a pirate treasure hunt by Berkhamsted children’s cafe Make Believe Ideas.
The event at Ashridge House and Gardens included a Pimm’s bar, circus skills workshop, cream teas, face painting, Punch and Judy shows, a bouncy castle, hook-a-duck and cake decorating.
Ashridge gardens, which are usually closed to the public, cover 190 acres and were originally designed by Humphry Repton in the early 19th century.
Yesterday they were home to more than 20 stalls, selling everything from toys to jewellery.
See this week’s Gazette for more pictures of the garden party, and keep checking this website for a video coming soon.
