A feasibility study into whether Berkhamsted should have a multi-storey car park has been completed – but Dacorum Borough Council says it cannot be made public yet.

The idea was initially mooted as an alternative solution to town parking problems when a Berkhamsted Town Council scheme to introduce parking permits across the town was about to fall apart.

The council’s cabinet will decide whether or not to pursue the plan next month.

Group manager for commercial assets and property development Mike Evans said: “The report has commercially sensitive information in it and therefore to release it to the public at this stage may affect any tendering process within the project.

“It has financial information in it that the market place should not know about at this stage.”
