Drummer rubs shoulders with dance elite at Paralympic opening ceremony
Gareth Tyler from Hemel with Flawless 2012
A drummer from Hemel Hempstead who was unexpectedly booked as a street dancer in last night’s Paralympic opening ceremony said the experience was awesome.
One of the highlights of the night for Gareth Tyler was meeting Britain’s Got Talent finalists Flawless.
He got on so well with the dance troupe they agreed to pose for this picture with him.
He said: “I got friendly with them and had a chat with them in their changing room. I used the experience to meet people and network.”
The 27-year-old, who lives in Livingstone Walk, danced with a massive crew of street dancers in the ceremony, which was watched by more than a billion people.
Gareth was in a section of the performance called Empowerment.
He said: “The whole thing was amazing. I’m still buzzing. We all ended up going to a casino and I didn’t get home until 8am. The whole experience was just indescribable.”
