Pupils at Abbot’s Hill School in Hemel Hempstead held a fundraising Mufti Day in aid of The Hospice of St Francis.
The theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and pupils and staff threw themselves wholeheartedly into the event with a range of imaginative costumes based on characters from Roald Dahl’s well-loved story.
Girls also held cake sales and a charity rounders match and overall more than £850 was raised for the charity.
Headmistress Elizabeth Thomas said: “It was lovely to see such enthusiasm throughout the school for this event. The girls have obviously put a lot of thought into their costumes and I am very proud of them for raising such a fantastic sum for this worthy cause.”
