Children’s author Marcus Alexander has visited pupils at Hemel Hempstead School.
The author, who wrote Keeper of the Realms, spoke to pupils in Year 8 at the secondary school.
Headteacher’s PA Sally Cooper said: “Mr Alexander delivered a very lively and entertaining talk, energetically talking about his travels and the people he had met and the foods he had tried.
“He told students to try everything possible because life’s too short not to grab opportunities when they come along.
“During the workshop he reiterated the importance of reading and stressed that although they would achieve, they would not achieve what they were truly capable of without reading.”
The students then produced their own story plan and also had a question and answer session with the author where topics included a story plan and their influences.
After the visit Mr Alexander tweeted: “Big shout out to my peeps @HemelHSchool.
“Thanks for the awesome welcome.”
