SCHOOL children have been given given lollipops as prizes for their sports day success.
Youngsters took part in an egg and spoon race, a sprint, a race where they had to bounce a ball all the way, and another where they had to balance a beanbag on their head.
The Berkhamsted pupils competed in colour teams green, yellow, red and blue – which each child was put into randomly at the start of the day.
In a statement, Year One students Cameron Edmonds and Lilly Power said: “Lots of mummys and daddys came down to watch us race in our team colours.
“Everyone tried very hard to win but it was the red team who won the school cup. In the afternoon we took part in lots of different sports such as football and we even did Zumba in the hall.
“It was a fun and hot day; we really enjoyed it and deserved our ice-pops the next day.”
Their teacher Beckey Capstick, who is also the Swing Gate Lane school’s PE coordinator, said it was a lovely day with a good turnout from children’s family and friends.
The event was on Tuesday, July 5.
