SCHOOL governors have appointed an ‘outstanding’ candidate after a long search for a new headteacher.

Tring School at Mortimer Hill has announced that Susanna Collings will take the post in September.

The board of governors made the appointment following interviews last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Chair of governors Brian Scarth said Mrs Collings was an outstanding candidate chosen unanimously in a robust selection process.

He said: “ We are really excited about this appointment and we are confident that Sue will continue to develop our rapidly improving community school.”

Mrs Collings, currently assistant headteacher at Princes Risborough School, said: “I am excited about joining not only the school, but also the Tring community.

“I have been visiting the town for nearly 25 years because my husband’s family, who live near the school, have been active members of the community for many years, giving me a great insight to the uniqueness of the town.”

There were 24 applicants for the role, currently filled by retiring headteacher Julia Wynd.
