Plans to build an astroturf hockey pitch on Green Belt land have been scrapped.

Berkhamsted School applied to build it on Kitcheners Field, but halted the plan on the advice of planning experts after mass opposition from the site’s neighbours in Castle Hill.

Vice principal Peter Nicholls said: “We decided to withdraw the current planning application after discussions with Dacorum Borough Council’s planning department and having taken note of the concerns of local residents.

“We remain committed to providing an all weather pitch for our pupils and are considering ways in which we can achieve this with the least possible impact on the surrounding area.”
