A sustainability group is asking people to leave their cars at home for the weekend to help the environment.
Incentives for people to take part are two-for-one bus trips by Arriva and £1 trips between Berkhamsted and London on the Green Line 758.
Transitition Town Berkhamsted (TTB) has organised the car free weekend to show people they do not need a motor and may benefit from using theirs less often.
The group also says it wants to make people believe they can use their cars less on a permanent basis.
Group leader Danny Bonnett said: “The weekend is for fun, but with a serious purpose. We want to show what a beautiful & vibrant town we have when there’s more space for people.” It is from next Friday to Sunday.
Businesses are encouraged to take part by entering the Carbon Challenge, in which staff who cut back their car mileage get an award from TTB.
There will also be a guided cycle ride to Ashridge from the Waitrose car park at 2pm next Saturday.
The full list of incentives, attractions and events during the weekend can be found on the group’s website at www.transitionberkhamsted.org.uk.
