HUNDREDS of Christmas trees were shredded as part of recycling schemes.
Green residents in Dacorum turned out to recycle a total of 1,755 festive firs at dedicated sites during the weekend.
The real trees were carted to recycling points in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, by people on foot, on the top of cars, in trailers, strapped to bikes and even prams.
Eco warriors could take away tree chippings to scatter on their gardens and any left over will be used by Dacorum Borough Council’s gardening teams.
Recycle numbers were boosted with the help of scouts from Berkhamsted and Tring who collected trees from people’s homes.
Dad Richard Bowen and four year old Leyton were among those who recycled trees.
