Exhibition will be the bee's knees

A new Bumblebee exhibition, which launched this week, is set to create a bit of a buzz at the Natural History Museum, in Akeman Street, Tring.

Bumblebees, a free exhibition, which is on until Sunday, July 12 is packed full of interesting facts and visitors will discover why there's so much more to one of Britain's best loved insects.

It is open from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and from 2pm to 5pm on Sundays.

On display will be species from around the world and you will learn about British bees in danger and find out how you can help them.

Visitors can play games and discover where bumblebees live, why the cuckoo bumblebee has no worker bees and why without bees we wouldn't have some of our favourite fruits and vegetables.

There will also be a specimen of one of the largest bees in the world and the bee that is invading Tring will be revealed.

Alice Dowswell, Interpretation and Learning Manager of the Natural History Museum at Tring, said: "Bees are fascinating insects but sadly many British bees are in danger. We hope this exhibition will help our visitors realise that only the smallest actions by humans can help to save bumblebees, and perhaps we can even inspire people to plant bee-friendly flowers in their gardens."

Activities will be running throughout the exhibition for families and adults, including making beeswax candles and a talk about bumblebee natural history. A variety of bee-related souvenirs will be available to buy in the shop throughout the exhibition's run.
