A celebration of German culture will be held in a 13th century church as part of an ‘Oktoberbest’ event on Saturday and Sunday.
First, St Peter’s in Berkhamsted will host a concert by talented young singers, a talk on cultural relationships and a tasting of the finest German wines from 6pm tomorrow.
The speech by the University of Hertfordshire’s Alix Green will examine how Germany was affected by the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago.
Tickets cost £20 and can be reserved by emailing Uli Grego at email@example.com.
Then there will be a free Buxtehude cantata musical performance - in German style, from the balcony at the back - with the Bridgewater Sinfonietta during the Eucharist at Sunday service, which begins at 9.30am.
Then there will be an outdoor Bierfest and Bavarian breakfast - all of which will be the first St Peter’s Kulturelles Oktoberfest.
If successful, the 13th century church hopes to do it again.
