Fewer people got into the Spirit of Tring than before

A two day concert that was postponed so that it didn’t clash with the Jubilee still failed to attract as many people as it did last year.

The Spirit of Tring, which took place at Pendley Meadow, in Tring, pulled in about 2,600 revellers on Friday and Saturday, which was fewer than the 5,000 recorded last year.

The event, organised by Grass Roots chief executive David Evans, was in its third year and it hasn’t been decided yet whether one will take place in 2013.

Spokesman Charlotte Jackson said: “David will be contributing much more to costs than he has previously. It has never been in the money.

“Local schools and clubs will benefit from fundraising and stalls. The concerts are his gift to the community and the more people there the better.”
