A fun quiz night to help fund a blind bowls player’s trip to New Zealand to compete on the world stage is to be held tomorrow evening.
The event will be held at Adeyfield Community Centre in Hemel Hempstead tomorrow – also Halloween – from 7pm.
Tickets cost £10 per head and include a chip shop supper.
A raffle will also be held and there will be prizes for the winning teams, with sponsorship for the event provided by local businesses including Sainsbury’s.
The proceeds will help pay for Sarah Marshall’s journeydown under for her chance to be crowned the World Disability Bowls Champion in February.
Sarah, who lives in Berkhamsted, has been totally blind since birth and will be representing England at the competition.
Blind bowlers get no funding to compete in the New Zealand event, but Sarah has so far managed to raise half the amount she needs to participate.
She has already received support from the community including a cheque for £200 from the Rotary Club of Berkhamsted.
Any further contributions can be made by contacting Sarah on firstname.lastname@example.org or Rotarian Graham Harris on on 07798 900819.
