A pensioner pounded the pavement to Hemel Hempstead as part of his cross-country challenge in aid of the Salvation Army.

Andy Peddle, 70, is raising money for the Christian cause by walking more than 7,900 miles in a top hat and tails.

He is visiting the charity’s 949 centres in the UK and Northern Ireland.

On Saturday Mr Peddle, who started the challenge in May last year and will complete it this October, arrived at the base in Waterhouse Street.
