Fundraiser to top up charity funds with a mountain climb

A CHARITY fundraiser who helped raise £130,000 for military charities will be collecting even more funds by climbing Kilimanjaro next month.

Helen Barton was on the committee for the Mad Summer Ball, which raised £90,000 for Care for Casualties and £40,000 for Help For Heroes, at Wingbury Farm in Wingrave last year.

The massive effort by the group was well received when they handed over the cheques to the charities but Helen’s efforts will not stop there as she is aiming to raise more than £3,800 for Help For Heroes with the mountain climb.

She said: “It feels surreal to think that I will be up a mountain in two weeks time.”

Helen who is from a military family in Aylesbury and works in Wingrave, will be flying out to the Tanzanian mountain on Thursday, March 1.

People can sponsor her at www.bmycharity.com/helenbarton.
