A really wild time will be on offer for the entire family at this year’s Berkhamsted Lions Summer Fete.
For those feeling daring this Bank Holiday Monday, there is a 55 metre zip wire in the Go Safari Den, a bucking bronco and try your hand at scaling the spider mountain.
The fundraising event will run from 11am to 5pm at Berkhamsted Sports Club.
For those looking for a more sedate day off, there’s the Crafty Den and parents with toddlers and babies can pick up baby massage tips in the Sleeping Lions Den.
After all the activities, visit the Feeding Time and Watering Hole Den where there will be delicious lunch and teatime offerings from ASK Italian, a hog roast, paella, crepes and homemade cakes.
Tring Brewery beer will be available, along with Pimms, tea and coffee.
In the Cubs Den there will be children’s activities and some traditional fun with Punch and Judy shows and Rainbow and Sonny the clowns.
Visit the History Den to take part in a design a medal competition and commemorate the centenary of the start of World War One with the Dacorum Heritage Trust.
View local pictures and find out how Kitcheners Field got its name, browse the role of honour and learn about local heroes.
Get close up with farmyard animals and owls in the Pets Den and enter your pooch into the fun dog show where the waggiest tail and best biscuit catcher will be crowned.
Dog owners can also enter their dog into a relay flyball race in the ‘have a go’ arena with the Bushey Hotshots.
Entry to the fete is £3.50, or £2.50 in advance from Knight Frank, High Street, Berkhamsted, Tring Brewery Shop, London Road, Tring and through the Lions at Berkhamsted Market.
