A group which aims to represent the voice of hospital patients from Dacorum welcomed an important speaker to its AGM last week.
The Dacorum Patients Group heard a talk from the Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group’s accountable officer Nicola Bell on strategies for developing West Herts hospitals.
The group, which participates on various local authority and NHS committees, was particularly interested in the future of the Hemel Hempstead Hospital as well as plans for a residential ‘health campus’ centred around Watford Hospital.
Group secretary Madeleine Donohue said: “We primarily discussed the fact that Herts is trying to come up with a clinical strategy across the county including a strategic needs assessment for Dacorum, with aims to have a commissioning plan in place for the borough by June.
“There should be some information about what services should be provided locally in Hemel Hempstead, but at least for the foreseeable future Watford is where local people go and we really need it to be a better hospital.”
