If you’ve received excellent care from a nurse, doctor, midwife or worker at any of West Herts’ hospitals, shine a light on them by nominating them for a special award.

The search is now on to recognise those who go above and beyond the call of duty at Hemel Hempstead, Watford or St Albans hospitals as the West Herts NHS Trust launches its new monthly Celebrating Excellence Staff Awards.

The Trust’s chief executive Samantha Jones said: “Our new award aims to recognise staff whose efforts reflect our six values, which were created by patients and staff to improve our hospitals for everyone.”

“We’d encourage anyone who has had really good care and who has been particularly impressed by a member of our staff to nominate them for a Celebrating Excellence Staff Award. What better way is there to say thank you?”

Nominations can be submitted for any of the 4,500 staff across all three hospitals, as well as the hundreds of volunteers and contractors, catering and security staff which make up the entire Trust team.

The inaugural winner of the award, nurse Jane Roberts, was selected this week by the Patients’ Panel, a committee which represents the views of hospital users.

A Trust spokesman said Jane was chosen because she involves patients in every aspect of her work, values their feedback, displays excellent leadership skills and is very proud of the three West Herts hospitals.
