BEFORE the coughs and cold season kicks in, people are being urged to donate blood to help build up supplies in the build up to winter.
Any sickness can prevent people from giving blood so NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are trying to encourage as many people as possible to donate now.
A number of sessions are taking place soon in and around Hemel Hempstead including at Leisure World in Jarman Park on Saturday, at St Barnabas Church in Queens Square, Adeyfield on Monday, and at Bovingdon’s Memorial Hall in High Street, on Monday September 12.
Lead donor relations manager Dominic Sutherland said: “We would like people to make an extra special effort to give blood over the next few weeks.
“We understand that September is a busy time for many people but the demand for blood never stops.
“It is also the start of the coughs and colds season and to ensure we are able to maintain blood supplies to hospitals it is important that blood donors continue to come forward and donate.”
