A NEW fitness class is targeting men over 50 and helping them to get fit.
Herts Sports Partnership has set up Fellas Fitness, a session held at Silk Mill Community Centre in Tring every week.
The class, under the scheme Active Together is delivered by the partnership with help from Herts County Council’s Adult Services.
Active Together programme manager Joe Capon said: “Across Herts, there are limited opportunities for bespoke programmes and we are trying to target new audiences to help the population get more fit and active.”
Mr Capon said the class has been welcoming men aged from 50 up to 85 since it came to Tring last month.
He said: “These classes offer a chance to try some tailored exercise led by a qualified and experienced instructor to help you shape up and feel fit again.
“They are part of a programme of 23 health and fitness classes across Hertfordshire.”
He added: “It’s a confidence booster for people who might be living with or recovering from illness or injury, and it’s open to all. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been inactive, just come and along and have a go. All you need to wear are comfortable clothes and some soft shoes.”
Mr Capon said similar classes have been popular for their social aspects too.
The sessions are run on Tuesdays at 1pm and cost £2.50. Find out more at www.sportsinherts.org.uk/50activities or call 01707 281004 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
