Patients have launched a broadside at NHS bosses, after West Herts Hospitals Trust produced a series of claims which they describe as “seriously misleading”.

A spokesman for the hospitals said: “The trust has used industry experts to provide costings and we have no reason to doubt these figures.
“In terms of timescale, building on a land in the greenbelt is significantly more complex than building on a site that is already used as a hospital and that is why we are supporting the option to radically redevelop the site in Watford.”
