The 130 home development with a public square, church, cafes, convenience store and eight other shops at Maylands in Hemel Hempstead will cost more than £20m, it has been revealed.

As the Gazette reported on Friday, the site in Maylands Business Park is part of the new “Heart of Maylands” scheme which is located opposite Hightown’s head office in Maylands Avenue.

The development is expected to be completed during the spring of 2017 and today a spokesman for the development confirmed the total cost would surpass £20m.

Stuart Baxter said: “While Heart of Maylands is still out to tender we would expect the total cost of the scheme to be in the excess of £20m.”

Meanwhile, Dacorum Borough Council leader Andrew Williams said: “It is great to see another major investment in Maylands.”
