Handy with a duster? The British Heart Foundation wants to form a housekeeping team to keep the cobwebs at bay.

Helpers will take care of the shop floor, warehouse and staff areas.

Duties will include dusting, hoovering, general cleaning and preparing stock for sale. Hours are to suit between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

> Those with super customer service skills are required to be the front of house for the British Heart Foundation shop, which is looking for volunteers who are comfortable talking to customers and answering the phone.

Full training will be given and there will be NVQ opportunities.

Help is needed Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

> Big and strong helpers are needed to shift items between the shop floor and warehouse.

Duties also include making up flatpack furniture and keeping the warehouse clean and tidy.

> A trust that safeguards the borough’s historical artefacts needs a volunteer to help with research and moving displays between libraries and civic centres in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Kings Langley.

The Dacorum Heritage Trust needs someone who has their own car and can come up with themes using the trust’s Modes Collections Management System to select objects (under curatorial supervision) suitable for display and write up captions for each object and lay them out in display cases.

> Volunteer knitters urgently need donations of wool to ensure they can continue to make clothes for disadvantaged little ones.

Hats, scarves, jumpers and blankets make a real difference to babies and children in Africa, India and Romania.

To find out more about these volunteer opportunities and to donate wool contact the Volunteer Centre on 01442 247209 or visit the centre at the Roundhouse in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead.
