A policeman from Hemel Hempstead is swapping his usual London beat for the unusual surroundings of Austria in his latest charity challenge.

Tim Boyall, a sergeant in the Metropolitan Police, is taking on a daring Ironman triathlon in Europe as part of seven gruelling runs to raise money for Dacorum homelessness charity DENS.

Tim, who lives near the Old Town, has already completed three other triathlons as well as the London Marathon.

This Sunday’s Ironman will see him swim for 2.4 miles, before cycling 112 miles and then running a full marathon.

Tim said: “I have raised some money for Macmillan Cancer Support in support of the help they have given my mum, but the main focus of my fundraising is DENS, as it is a local charity to which I have close links and it does great work in the area.”
