Hemel Hempstead now has another connection to BBC 1 soap EastEnders after it was mentioned in Tuesday’s episode.

Last month Albert Square’s postman Masood – played by Nitin Ganatra – visited the town for the Herald Express and Gazette’s Pride in Dacorum Awards.

The visit must have rubbed off on his Walford neighbours as couple Poppy and Fatboy came to blows on whether or not they should move to Hemel. According to Poppy, the town offers better value for money than the city, but perplexed Fats said he’d rather live “ in London than in the countryside.” Poppy –played by Rachel Bright – has been axed from the show in a cast shake-up, so perhaps she will move to Dacorum after all.
