A man from Hemel Hempstead was given a fixed penalty fine for after he darted out into the path of one of the torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame through Hemel Hempstead yesterday.

Torch security officers from The Met police stopped him from entering their ‘bubble’ around the torchbearer, who was walking along Woodhall Lane.

The incident, which happened at 6.15pm, was filmed by an onlooker and uploaded onto YouTube.

The video shows officers dressed in grey shorts and T-shirts moving the man out of the way and then one of the officers shoves the man when he tries to get close to the torchbearer for the second time.

He was then taken away and given a fixed penalty notice.

A Herts Police spokesman said that it was the only incident involving the Olympic torch in the whole county.
