Band aids harmony
Churches resounded to the sound of a Salvation Army youth band during a special visit to Hemel Hempstead.
Songs like the rugby anthem World In Union and Wet Wet Wet's Love Is All Around were interwoven with more traditional classics at Carey Baptist Church, in Marlowes, and The Salvation Army, in Waterhouse Street.
Clare Andrews, a youth worker at Carey church, said: "It all went brilliantly. The Saturday concert was quite full and there were lots of people I don't know.
"We also had an open air concert for half an hour in the town centre and people were coming up and asking if the band could be booked for weddings! It can't be booked for weddings.
"The band was very well received in Hemel Hempstead and they could come back, possibly in a couple of years, but that would be up to the church."
The Anglia Youth Band is made up of 40 young people between the ages of 14 and 24 from Salvation Army churches all over the Anglia region.
The band has toured in many places in the UK and Europe and it was also an extra special occasion to see a Salvation Army Band play to a baptist congregation.
Ten young people from Carey church music and drama groups joined the band in a celebration of youth.
Concerts were free to enter but members of the congregations were invited to make offerings. This paid for costs.
