High brow gig for Berko boys
BERKHAMSTED band Fluid Lines have been booked by the clothing company Jack Wills, University Outfitters to play at this year's Polo Varsity match.
Last year the attendance was about 10,000 people so the band will get plenty of exposure at the event in Surrey on June 6.
The band members, Calum Wood, 20, Jimmy Wright, 21, Ben McKelvey, 20, and Bruce Miller, 20, were kitted out by the retailer for a photo shoot at its St Albans store.
It came about when the band entered the Jack Wills unsigned competition to win a headlining gig at the Varsity match and join other winning bands on tour.
The uploaded songs on the Jack Wills unsigned website in the hope the public would vote for them.
Ben McKelvey said: "I think we got the gig because we got so many online votes in such a short period of time.
Currently Fluid Lines are in third place with more than 1,000 votes to go on the Jack Wills Fresher's Week Tour.
It's two shows a day for three weeks in a number of universioty towns and cities in the UK.
The band, which released Confetti, a three track EP, on Friday, April 10, is holding an industry showcase at The Cobden Club, in London tonight (Wednesday, April 15).
Coming up this summer, the lads will play the Nanpantan Festival in Loughborough, on June 20, and Hobble on the Cobble Festival, in Aylesbury, on August 23.
