A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
Are you a good team player with great people skills? Why not use some of your spare time to help home-grown charity Hope for Children as an events volunteer?
The charity is based in Bridge Street, Hemel Hempstead and works on behalf of disabled, orphaned, poor and exploited children in the UK and abroad.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys events, being an organiser and working with others.
Hope hosts a number of different events throughout the year so your help could be needed with a range of tasks from sourcing auction and raffle prizes, promotion and advertising to assisting on the event night itself.
If you want to make a real difference to the lives of children, this could be the role for you.
The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted is looking for people with a variety of skills to volunteer for them this autumn.
The hospice needs lots of new volunteers to help out at its distribution centre in Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted.
There are many ways you could help including checking games and puzzles, moving furniture, tagging donations or even testing electrical items.
They also need people with good IT skills and others with a sound knowledge of books, fashion or bric-a-brac.
Even if you can only help until Christmas, the hospice would like to hear from you as they need people who can list items on eBay and pack them for distribution.
New volunteer Megan Parkins, 19, said: “I wanted to volunteer locally and there were some great choices at the hospice.
“I chose to work in fundraising administration and, as well as learning some new skills, I’ve been able to enhance my CV and experience working in a team environment.”
If you would like to join Megan in the fundraising team or could help out at the distribution centre, the hospice teams would love to hear from you.
