THE trust running hospitals in west Herts has been named among the top 40 in the country.

West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust has been rated on a number of areas including patient safety and quality of care.

The ranking has been produced by health sector management consultants CHKS.

Trust medical director Colin Johnston said: “The trust is delighted that the performance of its staff has been recognised by the CHKS. This important national award reflects the trust’s commitment to patient safety and to meeting the highest standards of care and gives independent assurance that we are providing high quality services.”

Meanwhile, the trust celebrated ‘high levels of patient satisfaction’ in the latest survey of inpatient care by watchdogs the Care Quality Commission.

The trust was rated ‘about the same’ as other trusts on a range of factors including waiting times, cleanliness and attitudes of staff.

Talks are still taking place over redevelopment plans for the Hemel Hempstead Hospital site.
