A law firm is helping families to avoid costly court battles by offering a new mediation service for divorcing couples.

Two of Pictons family law solicitors – Drenne Dunphy and Siobhan Rooney – have been specially trained as mediators.

They can also help in cases of separation, breakdown in civil partnerships and parenting issues.

The move comes as the government cuts public funding from most civil cases such as divorces in a bid to slash the legal aid bill.

Dreene, based at the firm’s Hemel Hempstead and Tring offices, said: “At Pictons we are well aware of how emotionally challenging the affects of a relationship breakdown can be.

“We really work with both people to ensure they do everything they can to make the mediation effective.”
