Lee’s smooth squad really root for Rennie

A brave Tring man and three friends endured a painful waxing session to raise money for charity Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Lee Herring, 24, and pals Ben Bowness, Nathan Dealey and Luke Fowles were painfully relieved of all leg, back and chest hair at the Totality Day Spa on Miswell Lane.

The boys gritted their teeth as they endured a full leg wax, and to boost funds even further, onlookers were given the chance to pay £5 for an individual wax strip to use personally on the boys.

Lee said: “I didn’t expect it to hurt so much!”

The hospice is a cause close to Lee’s heart, as its dedicated nurses help care for his mum Sue at their home in New Mill, Tring.

Sue, 54, was first diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago, but it has now spread to her spine.

Lee recently moved back home with girlfriend Harriet to help care for his mum, and said: “I wanted to raise some money for Rennie because they’ve helped my family.”

Partner Harriet, 21, said the nurses were “wonderful” and that the family would not be able to cope without their help.

Last year, Harriet herself raised £400 for the hospice after doing a sponsored skydive.

More recently, Lee’s dad Steve took part in the Chilterns Cycle Challenge to raise funds.
