The chief executive of Tring-based Rennie Grove Hospice Care will join walkers taking on the Chilterns Three Peaks Challenge on Sunday.

Jenny Provin will do the nine-mile route – which goes up Chilterns peaks Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon – with husband Luiz (with her, above) and sister Sarah.

Participants can chose between that, a five an 18-mile route during the fundraiser.

Entry is £17.50 for adults and £10 for children, and includes a T-shirt, medal, water and free bus transport.

You can enter at www.c3peaks.com until noon on Friday, or from 9.30am to 10.30am on the day when it will cost £2.50 extra for adults.

Jenny said: “Since joining Rennie Grove Hospice Care in January I have spent much of my time out in the local community with the nurses, meeting patients and learning about how we help them by basing our care around their wishes and by being there for them day or night.

“I have also been privileged to get to know many of our really loyal supporters and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to meet more of them and hear their stories as we walk on Sunday.

“Although my family has heard countless times from me what fantastic work Rennie Grove does for the local community, it will be lovely for them to be able to see the support the charity enjoys and hear for themselves some first hand stories about how we have helped local families cope with the challenges of cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

“Like everyone else taking part in the challenge, we’ll also be raising money to help ensure that our care continues in the future.

“I’m obviously keen not to get blisters on the day, so I’ve been walking more often on the local towpaths to make sure I’m ready for the challenge.

“I think it’s very fitting that a health care organisation such as Rennie Grove holds events like these which help those involved improve their fitness.

“It’s still not too late to sign up for the walk so I’d like to encourage as many people as possible in the local community to join us on Sunday to help us meet our fundraising target and ensure that local patients continue to receive the quality care that they deserve.

“I look forward to meeting as many people as possible on the day.”
