A VICTIM of the 7/7 bombings in London has been voted Zest magazine’s most inspirational woman in sport.

Sitting volleyball player Martine Wright, from Beaconsfield Road, in Tring, is featured in the top spot out of 20 sports personalities, including broadcaster Gabby Logan and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe, who appear in this month’s issue.

Martine, who is mum to two-year-old Oscar and wife to husband Nick, lost both her legs in 2005 when a suicide bomber blew himself up on the underground.

She triumphed over adversity and won herself a place representing Britain in this year’s Paralympics.

She first got involved in volleyball at a Paralympic potential day at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and is now on court four times a week.

She told the magazine: “Some people might only see the negative in what happened to me but I’m turning it into a positive.”
