The Mayor of Dacorum said the borough became one ‘big, happy family’ during his fun day outside Hemel Hempstead Civic Centre on Saturday.
Attractions at the afternoon event included Punch and Judy shows, majorettes and jujitsu displays, a bouncy castle, a Hoots R Us owl stall, and a demonstration of how to put out a chip pan blaze by firefighters.
Mayor Bert Chapman said: “There were events happening all the time. It was a fantastic day. The weather was with us. There were huge crowds and everybody was really enjoying themselves.
“It was Dacorum residents together as one great big happy family.”
Cash raised at the event will go to his chosen charity, Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care.
The event was organised by Martin Crowhurst, 48, of Gade Close, Gadebridge.
He said: “I have organised these sorts of events for years now. I have decided to work with the mayor this year, because I have always liked Iain Rennie – they are a very good charity.”
He thanked Dacorum Borough Council and Hemel Hempstead eatery Chiquen for helping set up the event.
