Morale boost for Tring property owner with eco dreams

A HOME owner who has plans to make his house completely energy sufficient is delighted that his town’s planning committee had no objection to his application for an underground heat store.

Ben Taylor, who is currently going through an appeal against a refusal of his plans for 11 kilowatt wind turbine and a solar photovoltaic system at Marshcroft Farm, has been given a morale boost by Tring Town Council.

The decision made on Monday evening means Mr Taylor has been given the provisional go ahead for the heat store, which will save heat from the sun to warm the farmhouse where he lives with his family in Marshcroft Lane.

He still has to wait for consent from Dacorum Borough Council but it is a step in the right direction to achieve his vision of becoming carbon neutral.

There is a chance that his dream may not be achieved if his appeal for the wind turbine and photovoltaic system is blocked by the planning inspector.

He said: “I’m delighted by the decision on the heat store. It’s really encouraging.”
