Parish churches across Herts will be welcoming people from all walks of life through their doors this Sunday.
The open churches event allows anyone to visit their local church and find out more about it.
St Mary’s Church in Apsley End will be open from 12 noon to 5pm with special events including an exhibition of photographs, music, Messy Church activities for children of all ages, history guides and refreshments.
The church’s Rosemary Bladon said: “The church will be 143 years old this year and is well worth a visit as it is one of the oldest buildings left in Apsley, and is a reminder of days when the paper mills were at their height. This is your chance to learn about its history as well as enjoying some of the events that are taking place.”
The other St Mary’s in Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town will also be taking part, with a craft stall and refreshments available between 12 noonand 6pm. The day concludes with a service of Choral Evensong at 6.30pm.
Contact your local church for details of other events planned for the day.
