Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who they think was connected to the hit-and-run that killed a teenager just three days after he had collected his GCSE results.

Fazan Ahmed, 16, was struck in Jupiter Drive, Highfield, on Friday at about 8.25pm by a driver that stopped a short distance from him, before fleeing the area.

The former student of Adeyfield School died of his injuries two days later in St Mary’s Hospital, London.

The 20-year-old man from Berkhamsted was arrested at about 6.30pm today on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He currently remains in police custody for questioning while inquiries into the collision continue.

A police press conference about the tragedy was held yesterday
