Beauty queen Gabriella Gatehouse has missed out on her dream to be crowned Miss Universe but did win an award at the famous pageant.
The 19-year-old from Hemel was hoping to conquer the prestigious event and although she missed out this time, did pick up the Miss Socialite award at the Miss Universe GB leg of the competition.
The former Oaklands College student, who has appeared in UK Vogue and at London Fashion Week was philosophical ahead of the recent public vote and admitted it would be tough to win as it was ‘the strongest year yet’ for Miss Universe.
Prab Chadha of Pogo Digital which sponsored and judged the Miss Socialite award, said Gabriella fully deserved to take something back to Hemel.
He said: “Gabriella’s social media capability was judged on the way she communicated effectively through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
“Her portrayal of herself as an individual as well as a finalist in the competition stood out amongst the 30 contestants. She communicated the values of the competition effectively, acknowledging her sponsors and supporters regularly and gave regular insights into her charity work.
“She was consistent in her focus and used images well with very visible use of the Miss Universe Great Britain brand. For those reasons, we thought her social media campaign was exceptional and she is well deserving of the award.”
Gabriella said she was grateful to the people of Hemel for their votes.
“I said it would be tough and I was right. I didn’t get placed but I did the social media award!
“I just want to say thank you very much for the support and the help from both the Gazette and the public would voted for me.”
Gabriella is now hoping to forge a career in acting.
