A Berkhamsted husband and wife have signed up to complete the annual Chilterns Cycle Challenge fundraiser for Rennie Grove Hospice Care – on a tandem.
Neil and Alison Gray will take on the 35-mile route for the charity, which is based in Tring and St Albans.
Alison said: “Neil and I are both keen cyclists and wanted a hobby that would keep us fit without being too expensive, so we bought the tandem as a Christmas present for each other.
“Neil has previously completed John O’Groats to Lands End and the 112-mile Fred Whitton Challenge, but now he faces his biggest test – cycling with me on the back!
“It will be a family event for us, with our 13-year-old daughter joining us on the cycle, as well as Neil’s dad, who is 80 and has had two hip replacements.”
“I have worked with various palliative care teams, but there’s something special about the Rennie Grove nurses. I’d urge local people to take part in this event, to get out there and support Rennie Grove.”
The challenge on Sunday, March 23 will start and finish in Kingsbury Square, Aylesbury, and there will also be a 75-mile and 10km route for people to choose between.
Entry is £17 for adults, £10 for children and free for under-5s, and includes the price of a T-shirt, en-route water and a medal at the end.
