A controversial ‘Easter-themed’ window display in Berkhamsted has been removed after complaints.

David Paul Opticians usually prides itself on its shop front. One lady likes writes a poem about each of its new displays. But the latest one has caused quite a stir.

Owner David Paul said: “We have had people coming in saying they are disgusted with it. Seven or eight people have come in visibly upset, speaking about animal rights.

“One lady was visibly shaking. What does she doe when she goes past the meat counter in Tesco? Does she say: ‘How dare you sell your meat?’ I have been shocked by how shocked people have been. They are just rubber chickens.”
