Huge rats have been spotted on a much-used footbridge near Leisure World.
And its not the first time the two stinking creatures have been spotted on the Hemel Hempstead walkway over the A414 St Albans Road.
Jay Young, 69, of Toms Croft, Adeyfield, thinks vermin may be using the bridge regularly to get from one side of the dual carriageway to the other.
He first spotted them on Saturday – and they were back there at about 9am today.
He said: “There were two smelly, brown rats just sitting there and eating – big brown rats about a foot long.
“A lot of young mothers use that bridge. The pair of them were just sitting there, looking round at what they could pick up and feed on.
“They should be cleared away from the area. You do not know if one of them is going to go for a kid with an ice lolly in his hand.”
Mr Young thinks the rodents may be attracted to the area by furniture that has been dumped in a hedgerow nearby, giving them somewhere nice to call home.
