Youngsters celebrated their school’s fifth birthday by munching on 500 donated supermarket cakes.
Three five-year-old pupils at Broadfield Primary School got to blow out the candles on the main cake as part of celebrations during morning assembly on Tuesday.
And all staff and children enjoyed a fairy cake each thanks to a donation of sweet treats from Hemel Hempstead’s Tesco in Jarman Park.
In 2008 Broadfield infants and Broadfield junior schools merged to become one primary on the Windmill Road site in Adeyfield.
Deputy headteacher Louisa Ingram said: “We have very much become one community and it is very much a community school.
“We take a lot of pride in being part of the community.”
