Dacorum Borough Council has apologised for the conduct of one of its parking attendants who left their own car in a dangerous place earlier this week.

Though wardens are allowed to park on double yellow lines to carry out their work, driver Richard Vaughan said he ‘very nearly had an accident’ because the warden’s car blocked his view of the road behind the Marlowes Shopping Centre.

Mr Vaughan said he saw an attendant pull up and get to work, before taking photographic evidence of the misdemeanour.

The precariously-placed vehicle also partially blocked the entrance to the Bourne Leisure car park.

The Gazette approached the council about the issue. A spokesman said: “Our officers, although they have authority to park on a restriction, shouldn’t park dangerously and we apologise.

“Our officers will be reminded to take care when doing this.”
