Around 30 people attended the lunchtime concert at St. Mary’s on Tuesday, May 13 and were rewarded by some beautiful playing.

Madelaine Jones, pictured above, played one of her own compositions on the piano, as well as some rarely heard pieces by Gubaidulina and Farrenc and one of JS Bach’s partitas.

Her playing throughout was marvellously controlled, and she achieved a remarkable level of clarity in the faster passages of the Bach. Madelaine is a final year student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and fully deserves success as she enters the profession.

The final Tuesday concert in the current series at St. Mary’s takes place on Tuesday, June 15 at 12.30pm and features former head chorister Eleanor Hart (soprano) and Richard Grylls (piano). All are welcome.

Bring your lunch to enjoy at the end of the concert with a cup of tea or coffee. Suggested minimum donation of £3; all proceeds are in aid of church funds.
