Firefighters will be going out on strike for the second time in less than a fortnight tomorrow between 10am and 5pm.
The action is being taken by members of the Fire Brigades Union in England and Wales in protest to pension changes that would force firefighters to work until 60. They currently retire at 55.
The alterations are being put forward by the Tory-led government that includes Hemel Hempstead MP and ex-firefighter Mike Penning, who acts as its disabilities minister.
Tomorrow’s strike will be the 14th that has been staged by the Fire Brigades Union in protest to the pension changes.
Most of the members of the public quizzed on the topic for the vox pop in this week’s Gazette offered their support to the striking firefighters.
