Police have stepped up their presence in Hemel Hempstead’s Queen’s Square after gun-wielding robbers stole cash from a betting shop on Monday.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward about the attack on the Adeyfield Coral branch at 9.25pm, when two men entered the bookies with a gun and demanded the cashier hand over money.
Neither the cashier nor another staff member in the store at the time were injured in the raid.
Det Insp Justine Jenkins from Hemel Hempstead’s local crime unit said: “We are carrying out extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance and have a team of detectives working to establish the identities of these men.
“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Queens Square when the offence took place.
“Did you see two men acting suspiciously in the area before or after the robbery? If you can provide any information which could assist the investigation, please call us immediately.”
